Oyster Boys Conservation started installing vertical oyster gardens in Blackburn Bay in early 2022, and we haven't stopped since. It remains a #1 priority in our mission to protect Florida.
Public and private workshops are great ways to give volunteers and community members a chance to get their hands dirty. We bring the shells and the rope, you bring your hands!
Without our fantastic restaurant partners, we would be diving through trashcans to find used oyster shells. Instead, we partner with local restaurants to collect thousands of used shells.
We know we're not the biggest conservation and waterway nonprofit around.. we love working with groups and organizations that help us expand our impact beyond our immediate reach.
Embark on a journey of conservation empowerment with Oyster Boys Conservation's inaugural University Chapter Program, launching in 2024. Designed to nurture the next generation of environmental stewards, our program is a call to action for students passionate about making a tangible impact. Engage in innovative shell recycling initiatives, champion the protection of our precious waterways, and embrace a role in nonprofit and charitable endeavors within your community. Join us in shaping a sustainable future, one chapter at a time.
We work closely with local elementary schools to provide fun, engaging, hands on education workshops where we talk about shells, water quality, and give the youngsters a chance to make their very own VOGs.
All the way up to High school, we hope to reiterate the importance of protecting and taking pride in your home. In our case, here in Southwest Florida, our home is on the water. Stringing events, presentations, and more.
New to OBC in 2024, we are expanding our reach into colleges and universities across the east coast of the United States. New College, Roger Williams University, University of Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, and more!
One of our earliest workshop opportunities was helping retirees and senior citizens in Assisted Living communities. We taught them the benefits, and empowered them to string and assemble VOGs themselves.
