Dom oversees OBC's projects and outreach, including setting strategic direction and identifying resources needed to achieve our goals. He is heavily involved in fundraising, developing partnerships, and working with our board of directors to implement the organization's mission and vision.
Dom was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. In his early years he was always busy on the water with his brother Vince. You could almost always find these two wakeboarding behind a boat, fishing off a dock, or cleaning up shorelines even before they founded OBC. He attended college and played football at Florida Atlantic and Missouri Western State.
After college, Dom traveled around Florida beginning his career with Grace Management. After a few years of filling in at various assisted living communities, he started working full time as an Associate Administrator in Englewood.
In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, playing with his dog, tending to his chickens, and selling custom clothing.
Dom values spending time with his family and building real world connections with others. He is currently engaged to his fiancé Rachel and the two of them enjoy spending time outdoors together on their homestead in Osprey.
Dom has a strong vision for the world and believes in the importance of healthy food, quality education, and tight-knit communities. In his work as an Associate Administrator and nonprofit President, he strives to make a positive impact on the lives of others and to create a better future for all.
Why did you help found OBC?
We started when we heard that a record number of Manatees died in 2021. This led us to finding out why they die in large numbers like that, and ultimately it boiled down to poor water quality. We knew an attempt to clean the waters would help not only manatees, but all marine life and even us humans.
What do you love most about what OBC is doing?
I love the opportunity to learn and grow that comes with running a nonprofit. I am constantly challenged to think creatively and strategically, and I am constantly learning new things and expanding my skills and knowledge. I have been fortunate to work with a dedicated and talented team of individuals who share my commitment to conservation. We support and inspire each other, and I am grateful for the friendships and connections that have been formed as a result of our work together.
How can OBC change the world?
By educating and raising awareness about the importance of water conservation and protection, we are working to create a culture of sustainability and responsibility. By inspiring others to take action, we can help to create a world in which water is valued and protected for future generations.
